Park Officers are state-certified peace officers who enforce federal and state laws as well as the park district’s rules and regulations. Park Officers are the primary law enforcement in our park facilities, and patrol by car, bicycle and foot. Our officers are not only law enforcement officers but are involved in park programs & events, community events, touch-a-truck programs and much more. While on patrol, they also assist visitors who have questions or other needs while in the parks.

Safety Tips
- You might encounter wet or muddy trails at times; wear appropriate footwear.
- A park or trail might be closed temporarily due to inclement weather, construction, or other reasons; please check the park and trails page for updates.
- Poison ivy grows abundantly along some trails – on the ground and on trees. Be sure to know what it looks like before you hit the trail.
- Ticks can be found in the parks. Stay on the trails and check for ticks on your clothing and skin – as well as your pet.
- Be sure to dress for the weather (hot or cold) and pack insect repellent, sunscreen, and water.
- Carry a cellphone with you.
Geocaching
The placement of any geocache within any Preservation Park District facility is allowed by permit only. Special Use Permits
Special use permits are required for any activity that is outside of our park district rules and regulations. Special Use Permits may be issued for individual activities or scientific research. Please complete the form below and an officer will be in touch regarding your request.
